Leadership at Work
Fighting for Better Healthcare
- Matt continues to be a vocal advocate for the Prince County Hospital ICU. Islanders deserve healthcare that meets the needs of our community.
- Matt is advocating for better healthcare access across PEI, fighting for spending that prioritizes patient care over bureaucracy.
- Islanders shouldn’t have to pay to access medical care. Matt is pushing for toll coverage for Islanders travelling off-Island for medical appointments, easing the burden on families.
Cost of Living
- Matt has called for an independent audit of Maritime Electric. Countless Islanders have received unexplained bill increases this winter and it is important that we ensure no Islander is paying too much for this basic necessity.
- Since the USA has threatened tariffs on Canadian goods, Matt has been advocating for a strong and responsible response from our provincial government. We need a response that puts people first and ensures we weather this storm together.
Ensuring Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
- Matt has been vocal about the need for fiscal responsibility within Health PEI, ensuring that public money is directed toward frontline care instead of expanding bureaucracy.
- This government has a track record of wasteful spending. No better example than the millions spent on the NHL contract. Matt is committed to making sure every dollar spent by government is used wisely and effectively for the benefit of Islanders.
Land and Agriculture Protection
- Matt passed a bill that will protect agricultural land on PEI by recognizing it's importance to our economical and environmental sustainability.
- Matt introduced a Motion in the Legislature calling for a special committee on land. This would have allowed for an open and transparent, public investigation into land protection on PEI. Changes must be made to the Lands Protection Act to ensure our land is protected for future generations.
- Matt has advocated for the protection of our agriculture land and has called for incentives for new farmers to enter the industry.
